Zaliwa Costume
Made as part of an exhibition centred around the theme of foreigners, and the "alien". Zaliwa is a costume that was birthed with water and a poem. She symbolises the harmonious contradictions of nature, like the whale shark, that is an anomaly of both a shark and a whale. However within human identity politics these contradictions are hardly ever harmonized or accepted.
Although we are a part of nature, we live parallel to it.
Zaliwa is a hybrid manifested idea of what it may look like to re-textualize and recontextualize skin.
